Proposal for a Perpetual Parade is a program for a future where urban streets and sidewalks are parade routes. It speculates on the steps required to liberate public space, rethink private property, and eliminate the criminalization of the houseless community. Each parade float is also a tent, a play fort, and the mobile foundations of a new community. Each baton is also a drumstick, a picket, and a stake. PPP examines laws that criminalize camping, loitering, and sitting/lying on public property as well as a future of increased automation and takes advantage of loopholes in that legal system towards a future of non-work, festivity, and health.
Proposal for a Perpetual Parade (PPP) is an ongoing project that continues to expand in new directions. The core of PPP is a performative lecture expounding on the details of the proposal. PPP is going on tour in Winter 2015/2016 and Spring 2016. If you would like to bring PPP to your town, please e-mail Tori at firstname.lastname@example.org
